Dwain is a car nut through and through. He began building cars with his brother over 40 years ago in highschool and hasn't looked back. Dwain and his brother raced their cars together with Dave Richardson throughout the Pacific Northwest race circuit. They raced their Comp Eliminator '57 T-Bird between 1971 - 1978. Dwain took a break from racing for the next 20 years in order to pursue a career as an Aircraft Welding Technician for 23 years where he further developed and honed his welding skills. He worked on all manners of aircraft (Canadian Airlines) and specialized in helicopters. He then retired from AirCanada and began his car building again in earnest.

Dwain has been welding for 35 years and can weld inconel, chromoly, titanium, magnesium, aluminium, cast iron, and many types of stainless steel. He specializes in welding aluminium and chromoly.
